The Mediterranean (European) Fan Palm (Chamaerops Humilis), also known as the Dwarf Fan Palm and the Palmito, is a slow growing smaller palm tree but a very healthy one, more resistant to pests and diseases. This palm tree has become very popular in recent years due to its ability to grow in weather as cold as 5°F making it a great choice for the colder more Northern States as well as the Southern States. The Mediterranean Fan Palm grows multiple trunks in clumps around the main trunks in older plants growing from the base suckling’s gives this palm tree a shrubby look. Due to its slower growth rate this plant can be used as an indoor/outdoor plant lasting inside your home for years. Also due to its smaller size this is an ideal palm if to plant if you have a smaller garden.
